Privacy Policy

At Linefree (Pty) Ltd, your privacy is a priority. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have under POPIA.

Information we collect

  • Account details: name, email, phone, password.
  • Transaction data: checkouts, products scanned, payment method, loyalty activity.
  • Device and usage data: IP address, device identifiers, log timestamps.

How we use your information

  • To provide and improve the Linefree service.
  • To process payments.
  • To detect and prevent fraud.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

Payment data

Linefree does not store your card or bank login details. All payments are processed by PCI DSS Level 1 certified providers (Ozow, Stitch).

Mobile app permissions

  • Camera — used to scan QR codes and product barcodes. Images are not stored.
  • Biometrics — used for local device authentication only. Biometric data is never sent to Linefree servers.

Data retention

  • Account data: retained for account lifetime plus 7 years.
  • Session tokens and OTPs: deleted after 24 hours.
  • After account deletion: purged within 90 days.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, and to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator. Email privacy@linefree.co.za with "POPIA Request" to exercise your rights. We respond within 30 days.

Data breach notification

If your data is compromised, we will notify you within 7 days via email with details and recommended actions.

Children's privacy

Linefree is not intended for users under 18. If a child's data is collected, we will delete it immediately.
